OK - so it's slow today. Advent and Christmas are about to hit, and I'm gearing up, OK?

Anyway, just noticed something to fuel the rivalry between the MG-philes and the 'Rumfies. Our MG forum has 4708 threads, while the Triumph forum has 6082. At the same time, there are 52,620 posts on the Triumph side, and 55,186 for the MG's (Jaybird...? Tony...?).

Anyway, does that mean that MG people have more to talk about less stuff? Triumph people have less to say about more? Hmmm...

Mickey, shame on you for stirring the pot!

It's simple. There's less 'talk' on the darkside because they're out in the garage trying to fix their cars. There's more 'talk' on our side because we don't have anything to do except drive our cars and talk about how great they are.

MG people can't seem to figure out what is wrong while Triumphs have many small malfunctions?

Shame on you Jaybird for spreading such vicious lies about 'rumfs! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonono.gif When I had an MG, it broke down far more than the Spitfire I had before it. I've been a true blue 'Rumfie ever since!/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angel.gif Santa's going to bring you a lump of coal for that - or maybe another oil leak for your favorite toy ... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

If they don't leak, they're empty, right? Oh wait, a 'rumfy friend told me that.

AAAAHHHHH! Can't you feel the love?

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif Mickey

Miss Agatha dosn't leak, she's empty. Not time for lubs yet. Hehe.

I have 'em both....four MGs and one Triumph.

Oh wait....make that four MGs and one Ford tractor (my mistake)

(Now ducking!)

BGT and Midget with Triumph engine - where to go -where to go /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Elva has MGA / MGY, TR10 / TR3, Nash Metropolitan, Spridget, AH 100-4, XK120 & Lotus 7 stuff on it.

I'm outta this one. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm not sure I've ever seen a 'rumph on the road. Well, under its own power, anyway. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

Last time I drove one, it was a dealer loaner (1978!) and it was a kinda nice looking Spit. Got it while having some sorta routine maintenance done on a '69 B. While driving the Spit the 10 miles from home back to the dealer, the temperature gauge spiked and before I could even get to the shoulder the engine seized. It happened fast! ('Course, 15 years later I saw a Renault do the same thing. Scary....)

I was afraid the dealer was going to hook me for the damage. He just shrugged, said something like "I hate it when that happens" and gave me the keys to the B.

R.

Remember, we didn't start this one:smile:

My first sports car back in the old country was an early MGB.

I then went Triumph (TR4, TR5 and decades later TR4 again) because I wanted a car with some styling and character. Yes oil leaks are character building. Ooops, did I say something wrong.

Happy Holidays to All

I noticed that the Mini forum has only 312 threads with 2038 replies. Wow - that's low - they must all be out enjoying their cars. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I love them both...Happen to have more MG's...but thats just the way it worked out. I've driven Spits and MG's daily...and they're about the same reliability wise.

Any car with a cheesy CARDBOARD transmission tunnel ain't on my list. Not to mention stamped steel rocker arms, crankshaft thrust washers wot 'melt away'... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Have owned both- Both have provided about equal opportunities to be stranded in about the worst possible situations.
The TR's generally have been older so maybe the cause may have been less straightforward. The stuff of old cars with old wires and mechanicals.
