It's not just about cookouts and games.

In honor of our military who lost their lives in service to the USA:

In their honor and memory...

My POW-MIA flag is flying. Been up since Friday.

Brothers, all. HOoo ah.

To all who served.
Thank You.
This year, I'll pay my dedication at the WWII memorial at noon, then a personal tribute to two shipmates from HMS Tireless.

There are several memorial parks in our little village, as well as the cemetary. thismorning, while I was finishing up my weekend projects outside, I heard (over the course of a couple of hours) 3 different 21 gun salutes. the one at the park at the end of our street was close enough I could also hear the bugler playing taps. I paused each time and gave a personal thanks to all those who have givin us what we have today.

I spent this weekend up in DC with a bunch of my buddies. We went to visit some friends that now live in Arlington Cemetery.

We also visited the Vietnam Memorial.

It was nice to see that some didn't treat the long weekend as a time to buy discount patio furniture and other Chinese made junk.

Amen Ron. Amen.

thanks.
Tom

Ron, too bad, had I known you were to be there I may have been able to get you access to the Friday Night Parade at the 8th & I before they left for France! For those who may be in Washington over the summer, there is also a parade (free and open to the public) every Tuesday afternoon through the summer at the Iwo Jima Memorial in Arlington.

I think about all those that didn't come home and I did (from Viet Nam) and try to mend the tear in my soul a little more each time. It still staggers me when I think of the loss. At least I'm still thinking but the 58,000 aren't.
But, it's always so heart warming when I see posts like these and people seem to at least treat the returning troops now with respect - whether they agree with the war or not. Thanks guys!
Roy

Just revisited this thread and saw this link, Jeff. The: "You did your job..." frame... Someone in the crowd caught my arm holding a camera to my face. Chilling.

And "The Moustache"! wow.

Thanks. I'd never have seen that, wouldn't go lookin'.

...gonna take a bit of a walk now...
