What I do when wished Happy Memorial Day, is say "have a great weekend - and remember what Memorial Day is really about"
That usually at least gets people thinking - and with luck they'll ask what I mean by that.
The whole "3 day weekend party" for everything is pretty sad for some things. At least we can try to encourage folks to find out why it happens in the first place. I know some folks (me included) are concerned that a "9/11 Day" will just turn into another 3 day weekend - and the meaning of that tragedy will disappear.

My POW-MIA flag was hung Friday afternoon, taken down yesterday AM. Friends' names are carved in that damned wall in D.C... I ain't forgot what the "holiday" commemorates and will remind anyone who makes the mistake of misrepresenting it what the real meaning is.
