Wel well well, now there's a deep subject....
Any way, last night wifey and I had a wonderful visit from Doug(AngliaGT) and his wife, On the east coast from California, and drove all the way from Vermont to visit. We went to a favorite little cafe for dinner then sat around the table at home chattin till late.. What a good time!
Those guys have some great stories from thier travels, and are on quite an adventure on this journey.
It's always fun to meet fellow forum members and family. Thanks to Basil for all the world wide friends I've made through this site!
Here's to AngliaGT having a wonderful rest of thier trip. Thanks for stopping to say hi!.
 
I'm thinking either Doug or Dave from Toronto must hold the BCF record for visiting members! They've both been here!

Doug's been out here to my little corner of the mountains as well. Was great to see him!
 
Thanks guys!It was great to meet Ben in person,&
take in the nice scenery.
I wasn't aware that Watkins Glen was in that area,
until Ben informed me of that fact.There's also a lake
there.
I drove the old course (in the rental car - Mazda6).
What a blast!I even took the Wife around it once.I can't
imagine those drivers running the old course flat out.I
wish we'd had the TR6 with us.
We also had breakfast (& dinner) at Seneca Lodge.
Nice,casual atmosphere,reasonable prices,& good food.We
also hiked up the gorge - incredible scenery.
Dave,sorry,but we ran out of time (money)to make it
down your way.Thanks for the offer.I also had hope to
meet with a few more Forum members,but it didn't work out.
We did get 2 free round trip tickets to anywhere in
the US,so who knows?

Ahhh... Glad you guys got to Watkins. I knew you'd like it. It's one of the last holdouts of "Main street USA" and is just oozing sportscar history.
I'm awed every time I run that old street course ant try to imagine Allards and Jaguars and MGTCs taking it at full throttle! Yikes! and the gorge itsself is just breathtaking, hiking that trail right up into the rock.
Fun fact: In 1951 Harley Earl (Famed designer for GM) came to the race in Watkins Glen with the now infamous "LeSabre" concept car, and by the time he left he had set his mind on building a 2 seater sportscar to compete with the MGs, Jags, and the like. And what became of that vision? Today we know it as .... The Corvette .

I'm a nobody really.Just been very
fortunate to meet some very nice people.
It just happened that all 3 of our kids
ended up on the East Coast,so we've spent
our "vacations" there.
I want a REAL vacation - one with a
British (or vintage)car,no plans,& at least
2 weeks time.Maybe next year (I want to go
back to Montana).
I hope that I'm not boring anyone here
with what's been going on.

Another shout out to Basil for creating this great forum. Doug is one of several people that I've enjoyed meeting here. This community with it's friendliness, expertise, and helpfulness has really added another dimension to the experience of owning an LBC. BTW Doug, I'm going to do my first hillclimb this year in August.
 
Eric- What are your plans for the yearly Portland event or the Bend show?
 
I will definitely be at the Portland ABFM Labor Day weekend but the ATDI in Eastern Oregon is the weekend before the Bible Creek Hillclimb so I don't think I'll make that.
 
Sounds like a great drive for a shake down to me.

What's going on in the NW?I don't know if
I can make anything this year,but you never
know (that $900 ++ for Red light tickets didn't
help at all).

PIR All British Field Meet Labor Day weekend
I'll be at the ABFM in Portland and the Hillclimb and I'm autocrossing in Eugene,Portland and Salem most every month. It'd be great if you could make it up. That ticket thing really sucks.
