Mechanical fuel pump with later 1275

The 1275 in my donor midget is a late one, and has the fitting in the block for a mechanical fuel pump (complete with blanking plate). Now, this engine is going into a Bugeye, which currently has the original 948 with mechanical fuel pump. Could that fuel pump be switched to the new motor? I know the later Spridgets all used electric pumps, but I'm curious if it would work, and what the advantages/drawbacks would be.
 
It will work fine. All the cams had the fuel pump lobe.
As long as your engine has the blanking plate and not a solid casting, it'll work.
 
Thanks. I thought it might work, and that's one less thing I would need to modify to get it to work in the Bugeye. I'll at least put it on the list of things to investigate.
