Mechanic Needed in Chicago Area

Hello, all. I've found an '80 Spit with 30k mi and I think I'm smitten. That said, I'm not much of a mechanic (though willing to learn) and am looking for a mechanic in the Chicago area - preferably in the northwest burbs. I probably need to have the thing given a once over to make sure she's road worthy before I try and convince the wife this is a good thing! Thanks!! Kevin

Thanks Peter, Randall. I live in Inverness - near Barrington. I don't have pics yet because I haven't actually bought the thing. Needing to find parking for my "main" vehicle so I can garage the Spit. Once that's settled, It'll need to pass wife inspection (any tips here greatly appreciated) :smile:
 
Advice.......hmmm......OK, you asked, so here it is:

Don't sugar coat it. Be 100% upfront and honest. Tell your wife that you've fallen for another girl, but she's not a threat (in an intimate manner of speaking), because she's made of metal and has a heart made of cold iron. And just because she may not be on top of her game at the moment, she will not be cheap to have and hold, at least in the beginning.

She will require hours of your time and affection and she will be much more trying in your relationship than your wife has been, but once the three of you get acclimated to one another and she gets her former luster restored, you can all share many happy hours together.

JMHO. Then there will be no surprises for any of you.

Take her for a ride first! But be sure to take steps to reduce hair tangling ... I lost a girlfriend once (long time ago) because her hair got too tangled riding in my TR3A. If she has long hair, best to put it in a bun or something beforehand.
