Meanwhile, here in the nice, warm desert.

It ~does~ look idyllic.

I won't comment on our recent weather other than to say it's the first time I've had to change the oil in the generator more than once a winter. Did it yesterday. Life at the very end of the power line is such a joy...

I think this is the worst storm I've been through in North Dakota. Went to the movies came out 2 hours later and I had to dig my truck out and then had to find a way out of the parking lot. On the way back the inside of the windshield went from clear to iced over in about a block and a half and this was with the defrost going full bore and putting out good heat. Man I hope I can leave this place tomarrow as planned but I dont think thats going to happen.

We got a bit of a heat wave the last two days-up into the 40s, rainy most of yesterday, just warm today. Walked around the Loop most of the day and didn't bother wearing gloves. Even went out for a spot of night photography.

If it'll linger for another week I'll pretty much be off for the rest of the year. Don't know if that's good or bad but... just an observation

To think that Saturday at 3pm we were at 58 degrees, Woke up Sunday with about 6 inches of snow and at 3pm we were at -6 (in Loveland/Fort Collins, -3 in Denver). Currently sitting at -17 (WITHOUT WIND CHILL, below -30's with wind chill) and our high today may reach 9 degrees.
Fargo got more snow from this huge system, but we got the cold.

Thinking of going to Aspen to warm up, they are supposed to be at least at 22 degrees today. :frown:

In DC that would be a catastrophic event. Send it down here, I could use a laugh

In a former life, me and Mrs lived directly outside of Wash D.C..

A blizzard was predicted and, then Mayor, Marion Barry grabbed his wife
and his girlfiend (a few kilos of coke) and quickly flew to the Bahamas
for the duration of the storm and clean-up. As I recall, Wash. D.C. had
two functional snow plows at the time.

I drove a Jeep so I was good to go!!

Where were you Dale? I grew up in Alexandria. I don't know if it was the same storm, a couple hundred people were stranded in their cars overnight on a freeway there.

Been hearing reports of multiple Priuses (Priui?) having a particularly hard time this morning, dealing with the extreme cold. Must be below the testing threshold that Toyota tested to.

Hey Greg, probably same storm. Yeah tons of folks
stranded on the beltway. We lived in Columbia, MD at the time-
I spent two weeks in DC and then two weeks in Puerto Rico back then,
etc.

Probably a Ural motorbike, those Russian ones that they still make... I'm told that they are excellent in the snow, something about the extra traction of the side car.

Sherlock - my brother Gene Langford in Halapaw, Florida sells the Uralso. He's been to the factory and traveled across Russia. Contact him at holopawural@hotmail.com

Had him up here in Maggie Valley's Wheels Through Time Museum this fall and someone there recognized him. A customer from Georgia, I think. Neat bike. Both rear wheels have power and the bike has a reverse gear.
