While at the Superintendent of the US Naval Academy, there was a
plaque on the fence in the back yard that said "ON THIS DAY (Date),NOTHING HAPPENED"

This one made me chuckle because just a couple days ago we were sitting with our Priest at the state fair cooking contest. Our Priest won second place in the dessert category for his "Pumpkin Spice Tamales." I'm not even kidding.

My significant other brought home a pumpkin spice cheesecake last night.
When she asked how I liked it I told her that those are two great things that don't belong together.
The first bite was almost toxic, but I choked down the rest.

Not just "rocky mountain oysters" - but how many people today know what "Silex Brewed" means!

Popular coffee makers in cafe's and restaurants of the 1940s and '50s -

The "all glass" implied purity.

And note the menu was in a Nedick's coffee shop. Haven't seen one of those in many moons.

The modern equivalent to the Silex seems to be the siphon. You'll find them in Japanese coffee shops. They seem to be faster than the Silex in that they are single serving. You can also use a damp towel on the lower vessel to draw the coffee down faster. A really good cup of coffee, not bitter at all.
