...well DUH!

Janet and I went to see The Book of Eli over the weekend. (Interesting movie, by the way.) At the beginning of each preview was the following:

"The following preview is approved for appropriate audiences."

Never before noticed that bit of the obvious. Talk about major CYA!

Legalese, lawyer-talk.

So, if we're watching that disclaimer, we must be "approved"???

Hmmmm . . . :cryin:

But, what defines "appropriate audience"?

And how'd you like 'Book of Eli'? Jerri & I are thinking of seeing it.

Strange movie. Post-apocalypse theme. Reminded me of Mad Max and The Postman .

It used to be a green banner implied it was for "All Audiences". In 2009 they changed it to "appropriate audiences". In theory the trailer is suitable for the rating of the film being shown (ie: you won't see a "mature audience" before a rated-G film).

I don't know all the ins-and-outs of why they did what they did, I just know the trivia

In the past couple of weeks we have gone to see Sherlock Holmes, Avatar, and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

Sherlock Holmes was excellent, very well done, and depicted Victorian England very accurately. The police officers were also depicted more accurately than most I have seen.

Avatar was very good. Look past the overt political message and accept it as a story well-told and you will be fine.

Actually, it reminded me very much of "Dances With Wolves" in more ways than one, so if you go and see it let me know if you agree!

"Imaginarium" was a typical Terry Gilliam project. Off the wall, with very strong Monty Python/Time Bandits overtones. I enjoyed it more than SWMBO as a result. Heath Ledger's last movie appearance, and proceeds go towards a trust fund for his little daughter.

They covered for Heath Ledger not being in much of the movie in a novel way, which worked, and with cameo appearances by Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Ferrell at least SWMBO wasn't too bored by the movie!

Don't read if you haven't seen the movie!

Use "reply" as opposed to "quick reply" and click the S with the slash through it. Just to the left of the quote marks on the top of the reply window.

I enjoyed Book of Eli - the payoff was the ending and I'll say no more than that....other than I did spot a Rover during an early altercation!

So what your're saying is, Downey did to Homes what Moore did to Bond.

Bond seems more Bourne to me now. Can't blame the fella since they changed his mission objective to selling BMW's a few years back.

anthony, I'd read the books, but I'm illiterate.
