Welcome aboard! Those nuts are not very convenient to get to, I'll agree. I've had to use a combination wrench, sometimes turning the open end at a 90 degree angle and turning it like a screwdriver. I've wondered if a crow's foot would work, but I never had a set to try with.
Be careful if you decide to use some PB Blaster or penetrating oil on them, the rubber parts of the brake cylinder won't like it, so try to keep it out of the master cylinder bores.
I think those particular nuts left me wondering why BL just had to weld those studs on and not use bolts that you could get to the heads easily from inside the pedal box.
