Be aware there is a batch of brand new, AM replacement masters, that are defective when you get them.
The symptom is extreme difficulty in bleeding the system and then having to do it again and again.
The manufacturer has (on mine at least) omitted the tiny waffle washer on the tip of the end valve. If
you have been cursing and thinking you no longer know how to bleed a system of air, IT aint YO Fault.

Be there done that one with a Jaguar unit.
The waffle washer as you call it is very important to the operation.

Thanks for this post. Just replaced my clutch master and slave about a month ago, only to have mediocre results with soft clutch and grinding gears periodically unless I pump the clutch a few times before shifting. Bled it twice more and same result. Perhaps this is the reason.....

Yes it most certainly is. the real laugher was the reply from the retailer saying as how it all my fault
that after 50 years of wrenching I am doing it all wrong. The cheesy buggers wont admit how wrong they are till
they face a courtroom full of angry jurors. Some where some body will get hurt I am afraid.

Hi MD having the devil of a time bleeding the clutch system On my 59.
Installed both new master and slave as well as flex hose to the slave and a new reservoir.
slave is installed properly and has the correct adjustment on the rod.
have bled using two person method, reverse bleeding, and pressure bleeding.
no leaks anywhere except a tiny mount behind the slave dust cover.
so replaced the slave, again. bench pressure bled it before installing.
no leaks behind the rubber.
pedal is great for about a day, just sitting In the garage
out for a drive and had no clutch after about three miles
pump like crazy and get enough clutch to make it home.
no leaks behind the dust covers on either the master or the slave.
or anywhere in the fittings.
so having replaced the slace twice, is the consensus i may have a bad master cylinder from the guys
whose name is the same as the green stuff that grows on the north side of trees?
Been bleeding hydraulics for at least 50 yrs and cannot fathom this one.
inclined to get a new master from bpnw.
Any comments, or am i up a tree on this one?
thanks expat.

Hi MD, so what did you do to fix your problem?
Obtain another master from someone else?
Rebuild the one you had adding the missing waffle washer? If so who has that?
Rimmer has an mc but its a repro, oems are on back order till for ever.
Anywhere else for an alternative source?
cos right now I’m thinking WTF? after 50 yrs of working on old brit iron.
