Master Cylinder Actuator rods

I measured the length of the actuator rod adjustments when I took it all apart many years ago- I've lost those photos. Can these rods be set up to be too long? I can see a problem if they are shortened too much. The manual just says they are set at the factory.

Yes they can be too long. IIRC, (I can't find it in the book) they should be set so the the pedal(s) move at least 9/16"? before starting to actuate either the brakes or the clutch. Otherwise you risk not having those things properly release. ..

There's a mention SOMEWHERE of how much free play there should be at the master cylinder when the pedals are "at rest" but I can't find it now... Someone will weigh in.

I found a listing for the BRAKES... . Free Pedal movement 5/32" I assume the same for the clutch. .. Still looking.

2. Set the length of the push-rod to give a free movement of the pedal pad of approx. 5/32" (4mm) before the m/c piston begins to move. the push-rod must have a minimum of 1/32" (.8mm) free movement before the piston begins to move.
