I have what appears to be a maplight (licensce plate light?) added to the dash. Anyone seen this before?

Any chance this was original or maybe a dealer add on? The installation seems well done. Being new to all this should I leave it or view it as another hole in the dash?

I would leave it unless you are really going for the "concourse" look.
These cars don't have many lights and having that one at night may be handy (if it actually works when you NEED it!!)
It is close to "period" and looks good.

Could have been a dealer install since the MGA of the same period had the exact light and most brit cars of that period and before had map lights. I think I would go along with Bill and leave it.

Kurt.

It was not a dealer offered item from Austin Healey.

However that said I have seen lots of them over the years.

Thanks for the input. We will leave it. this was my Mother -in-Laws dream car that never was finished, so we feel that whatever was there when she bought it in 1981 should stay. Except the red nail polish "touch up paint"
