I understand your opinion, and I'm not arguing it, but I think this is even worse. At least the new Mini was actually British designed, at least it emulates the idea of the original Mini, at least it is built by a car company that has a stellar reputation of making enthusiast friendly, well built cars and at least if you see one on the road, you actually SEE it. They stand out a bit from the norm, and you can see the classic Mini influence. I can live with that.
The new MG will be NOTHING like any MG before it. On purpose. It's an all new image trying to ride on a well known brand. It's gonna be another "Hyundi Sonata" a cheap upper class car. Like we really need another car to copy Mercedes/Lexus/BMW ETC... At a much lower price, and an equally lower build quality.
I'll gurantee they'll be horrid quality. Reports already suggest that this latest wave of cheap chinese cars will be farily chincy compared to what the modern market is used to.
And I know that the current generation will forever link these "new age Yugos" as the first thought of MG. Not any of the classic models.
I'll step off my soapbox now.
Like I said Mark, I dont mean to be contradicting you. Please dont take it that way. Personally I'm a bit more accepting of the New Mini, but I also don't like to see stock, new cars (of any type) showing up at a classic car show, and I fully understand your views.
