The radiator on our in-progress TR3 has the crank hole and I thought it would be fun to try hand cranking the car - my kids sort of don't believe anyone ever did this. Got the crank and also bought a "hand crank guide" part off eBay, but haven't been able to nail down how the heck this thing mounts to either the frame or the body. Can anyone supply a pic that shows a correctly mounted hand crank guide? If I recall from previous posts, I think Stig's red TR has a guide mounted on it but I couldn't tell how it was done.
 
On a 3A, the guide mounts to the floor of the grill opening with a single bolt. Then there are two reinforcing rods (similar but not identical to the rods for the radiator) that go from it down to the tabs on the frame.

PS, An often overlooked detail is that the factory sometimes added shims to either the motor mounts or the radiator mounts, to get the holes to line up.

This is all I could find. These are the ears where the threaded ends of the support rods attach. The photos above really show it all. You have to fasten it all in place rather loosely, then insert the crank making sure the teeth are engaged in the end of the bolt on the front of the crankshaft and pulley, then tighten all the nuts securely. Remove the crank and try to re-insert it and verify that it engages the crank bolt as before.

Be aware that there were variations in the cranks used as the front end changed... perhaps 3 versions if you count the TR4 crank.

So you will want to confirm you have the right crank. The correct crank will have that fat section sitting in the crank support when the crank is engaged.
