Lets try to make this quick. I finally went with the idea to get a Manual choke for my 79 b. after I found it on sale at v.b. so I got one installed it and my car starts like I never knew it could. Just one problem how do I run the cable through the firewall?? and also where is the best place to mount it? thanks
 
I put a hole in the rubber plug on the firewall and mounted it just down and in front of my hood release. Use one of the screws that hold your panels on theyre are pretty stout.

There's probably a plug of some sort blanking off the hole in the dashboard where the choke used to be. Same goes for running the cable through the firewall-there's probably a rubber bung where a grommet used to be. Get a good photo of the engine bay with a choke and figure out which one.

Many ppl replace the reostat for the dash lights with the choke assbly

Adam, there should be a specific hole in your firewall for the choke. (But I guess it depends where you put the choke, since it's an add-on, right?)

The "proper" choke cable hole is in the vicinity of the steering column, I believe. There is also a small hole in a frame bracket near the steering column closer to the dash where the choke cable can be run to keep it tidy. At least that's how I have it run in my 66B, which has the choke knob on the dash to the right of the steering wheel.
