Thanks Richard, my plan had been to go to the earlier Strombergs because I don't want to mess with or worry about temperature compensators and such, and the adjustable jets give a greater range of adjustment than the adjustable needles. I will check to see if my carb has the idle trim screw and if it is closed.
But then I thought there might be an easier way.
Of interest I have a TR250, I have the later TR6 carbs (73, 3508 I think is the number) If I look at the needle on the chart I linked to above the TR250 needle is richer across the range than the later needle. I know it is basically the same motor (I think compression ratio was dropped at one time).
I am still exploring the needle swap concept if I can keep the information flow going from Burlen. But I also still like the idea of getting ealrier carbs, which I had on my 4A, and they gave me years of trouble free service (like it says in the article above).
