While waiting for parts to arrive so I can send my 1275 engine to get rebored and then rebuild it. I thought I'd get to work on the gearbox conversion. I've recently shortened the tailhousing on the fordbox and reconditioned it. I know ford conversions are not all that common on your side of the pound but I'd still like to share it with someone since none of my friend seems to share the passion for spridgets.

I have some pics on how I shorted the box

Once I got to work everything happened in a jiffy and now both engine and gearbox with mountings are in place.

so now what to do...?

I'm hoping that when MOSS Sells a T-9 Kit this work has already been done. This doesn't look like something I'd want to undertake.

Jim,

I suppose you're referring to the shifter position modification? And it wasn't really all that difficult except for making a good weld. The upside is that the gearlever sits in the original gearlever hole (altough it's a tight fit) so I don't need to cut the transmission tunnel inside the car.

Hi Jim,

Why would you go with a T9 instead of the Datsun route? The transmissions are very hard to find and probably harder to find parts. The T9 kit is very expensive and while I've seen these in Morris Minors that come from the UK, I believe you need to cut the crossmember to fit it in a Spridget

There still seem to be Datsuns out there and you do know about my 5 speed kit, right?
