Hello all -

Hope to be driving soon. Having some help with cleaning up the electrical (which luckily and shockingly was a pretty strong area for the car). Adding a voltmeter and radio.

Thanks to all for the various & timely help over the years.

George

That's coming together nicely, George.

George - I am beyond envious - is that a custom interior? Is the rim around the shell original? I think I have just got rubber. Tell me about the carpet.

John -

Custom - in a way -- me and lots of time.

Seats: bought via ebay guy from Utah (had some minor difficulty, but had this color scheme in my head and he was the only answer - I can't sew - guy worked with me easily on issue). I installed them over the old foam. Modified regular foam for the bottoms (probaly should have bought new via Moss, didn't want to wait).

Panels: I am doing via extra material I bought from above. Use the old ones to make new backings from 'masonite' ($20 / sheet from home cheapo) - bought a 22 guage upholstery / staple gun from ebay and 3/16" deep staples. No glue on panels. Cotton batting for 'cushiony feel'.

Trim work: via extra material from above. Just took my time. The back rim going around the whole back kept me up at nights dreading it. Saved it for last to practive my skills (& had lots of extra material in case I needed to punt). Used spring clips, razor bades and spray glue and did things in multiple steps over a few evenings. Only 2 small (& I really do mean small) wrinkles on the curves. I think I hit a home run on that piece.

Dash: Went exotic here. Went with fabric to match the trim (chocolate brown) vs. the primary tan color. Trim around the dash is tan. Adding new gauges & radio.

Carpet: Stock Interiors.com or

https://www.stockinteriors.com/items.asp?...y_Sprite_Carpet

$175 + shipping. Made for my model Sprite (multiple pieces and glue in accordingly. Diff colors and textures to choose from. They'll mail samples.

Bottom line - not to knock them - Moss was just too darn expensive for not being able to choose anything I really liked (ie not black). Including a cheapy radio / speaker setup: $600 into the interior items. At least half of the Moss price and a classy looking "pleather" (vs. vinyl).

Also did bumpers / most chrome pieces that are still available / rebuilt tach (had to) / wood steering wheel (I splurged, not in above $600 figure) / new paint job with a modest amount of body work. I've been acused of not being able to do a small project - don't know why?

Hope this helps. If you have any Q's - send me a PM. Happy to answer.

BTW - Where ar eyou in Ontario? I'm in Cleveland, OH.

Thanks -

George

do you have a pic of the dash?

which carpet did you choose? (colour & weave) - is it flecked like the pic appears to show?

yours doesn't have wind up windows does it?

I'm in Waterloo ON - 1 hour west of Toronto

I think it was 80 / 20 "saddle". Not sure - could be nylon. Positive on color. No windows - side curtains. No ext. door handles either - very cool.

Coming up to Toronto in a few weeks. Thought I'd ask.

George

John -

Confirmed: 80/20 and Light Saddle (# 511). They'll send samples if you want to compare.

George,
How did you attach the carpet..original snaps or glue or ?>? Someone once said not to glue, but I'm not sure I have the patience to find where the snaps should go, etc. Did the carpet kit even have snaps?

Thanks again..
Devin

Thanks George - are you driving to TO?

Devin -

Glue and careful cutting.. The prob was i had to start on the most difficult piece - wheel arch. Had a wrinkle. I can live.

John -
