Making a dashboard

I like the Gila Monster myself! Does that add 5 hp?

? here

are the shift patterns on later RHD drives opposite then LHD's?

MMM's have a opposite pattern so first is up and to the right.

Just curious.

Hi Drew,
I made a new dash using Baltic birch plywood (then veneered over). ½” thick and has 9 layers to it, VERY rigid. Not particularly cheap, but maybe less expensive than marine grade. Isn’t marine grade fairly flexible?

Patrick -- RHD Spridgets use the same transmission, so first is up and to the left.

I've got a source for birch paint-grade plywood scraps from a wood shop I used to work for (they make trade show and mall exhibits). I'm hoping they might have a dash-sized bit of cutoff for my first attempt.

Right hand drive is dangerous here, left hand drive is dangerous there.

Ask me some time how I know this, heck to pass.

I have driven many RHD cars in the US and never had any problem even with the very first one. Even USPS vehicles are RHD. I have had difficulty driving anything in GB. That place is not only dangerous for drivers, but pedestrians too. (if you're not used to it)

As for the sprite, it is correct the car is small enough that you probably wouldn't even notice the difference from LHD.

Have fun!

Thanks for the link, Mike. That's just the sort of thing I'm thinking about putting together. If it stays at the initial price, I might even pick it up to use as a template. We'll see...

I've got a friend who owns a commercial wood shop. I'm going to try to swing by next week and make use of his tools to put together a template.

ok now to hijack this thread ...anybody ever do a wood dash for a midget circa 1970. THey aren't flat. Just want to see some pics to get ideas....

Frank's Rally car had a wood dash
