TR2/3/3A Makes your TR3 look like a Limo...

That is wild! I never knew that it existed. I remember some of the cars from the 50's & 60's, especially the Isetta's, but never there to be such a collection in existence.

When I first started out as an aircraft maintenance apprentice in the olde country back in the 70's, one of the Supervisor's had a Messerschmitt as a daily driver.

Messerschmitts are pretty cool...I also remember the Gogomobile, the Subaru 360 (a girlfriends ex-husband broke into her garage and turned it upsidedown so I had to rustle up some friends so we could get it back on its wheels!) and a few more. Mostly from magazine coverage. Funny, those writers made it sound like these were really popular cars when, in fact, only a handfuil may have been built.

Kinda sounds like the reviews Consumer Reports gives to their personal favs...

We actually had a Messerschmitt (two-tone red and white; clear bubble top) back when I was 13 (that was 30 years ago). My uncle owned a service station and he had one hanging around. When he died, my aunt knew we were into cars and gave it to us. My automotive knowledge back then was limited, and I could never get the thing to run for more than a few minutes. Eventually my father got sick of the thing taking up space (though a car lover, he never shared my fascination with odd cars with "personality) and sold it to some college kids for $25. I still have the literature that came with the car.

In this day and age of high gas prices and tight parking, I'd love to have it back.

I'm sure that tshea feels a lot better knowing that....

Some may remember Peter Egan's April issue comparison several years ago between a Messerschmitt and a Mustang. The Mustang was of WWII vintage. As with all of his articles, it was entertaining reading.
