Finally! After sitting on jack stands for 10 years, my EType is finally sitting on 4 wheels! Tonight my youger son and I installed my newly rebuilt IRS in the car and I finally was able to put it on four wheels and get it off the jack stands! What a thrill is is to be able to roll my car in and out of the garage! Here are some links to pictures:

My IRS shortly after removal and disassembly - yuck

IRS components after powder coating

The differrential ready for inspection

Diffy gears show almost no wear!

Starting to come together

New billet aluminum shocks, just need the hubs now!

Hubs rebuilt and installed!

Getting the IRS ready to lift into the car

Almost all bolted in!

Using a bottle jack to "tip" the IRS so I could get all the bolts in

IRS is now installed!

On four wheels!!

The wheels will, of course be replaced with new Dayton wheels and Michelin Redline tires!

SWEET!!!
You are one major step closer to being back on the road. Now that it is looking more "drivable" I bet the time you spend on it will increase.

Thanks guys. I think my next major step is to complete the brake system. Get the MC rebuilt and installed and also put all new Stainless lines in the car. Now that I can actually roll the car out of the garage (and thus work in the sunshine) I suspect the restoration will pick up the pace a bit! I am really excited about this recent milestone since my car had been sitting on jack stands for nearly 10 years!

I added a few other pictures (in original post above) to show the progression of the IRS rebuild and install process.

You know what?
I *always* thought that you were rebuilding a coupe.
I didn't know that your car was a roadster.
Great looking car!

You may be thinking of the Coupe I owned in High School, a picture of which I had used as a logo on the forum here for quite a while.

Hi Bas,
Congratulations, you have passed a very large milestone. Getting four wheels on the ground & rolling should give you the incentive to continue.
