That's true Larry. I had to get a job when I was 14 so I could start saving up for my first car. Of course on the bright side I appreciated that thing so much I still have it.

My Dad was looking for a Packard, Corvair, Studebaker, Desoto for me. I had started working and he put a limit of $700 on a car , as I had to pay him back in a year. While we were looking at this lot of used old Packards and etc., I looked across the street at the Dealership and saw a 57 Chevy 210. Asked salesman if it was for sale, said it just came in and had to be cleaned. "How much without cleaning?" I asked. $400 bucks was the answer. Well Dad bickered ans we drove it home for $400 taxes and license paid. Paid the old man off in 4 months and had the thing for 4 yrs. Took me thru service and college.
