TR4/4A Macy's Garage TR4-6 bonnet release kit mini-review

Indeed. I had no idea that it wasn't there on the 4A! That's really interesting. On the 250 and 6, the cable goes from the latch (which is on the right side of the battery on the 4 through 6), along the firewall, and then through the firewall and into the passenger compartment. The pull is mounted under the dash and in front of the door. A long and circuitous route.

Perhaps they got too many complaints from US customers of the 4/4A, and relocated for the US market. I know it took me a bit to locate the knob when I first got my car.

And it isn't laziness, it is just being efficient!
 
I made one too, but I also realized that you needed a stop but on the latch end the piece on the car latch,I actually welded about a 1/2 inch extension on which helped out a lot

Well, after seeing the bling version, I felt inadequate, and had to dress mine up. I decided to do it "old school", however. I had a spare throttle linkage rod and end laying around, so I drilled and tapped the lever arm to accept the ball (there is something about tapping and threading that I really like, perhaps making such perfect threads). I shortened the rod and re-threaded the cut end, and added a large knob. I also added a locking collar to serve as a stop.

Obviously this doesn't add to the function of the release, but it was a fun project.

Difficult to see, but I had made one using scrape iron. Idea came from Buckeye Triumphs. Used fairly thick gauge iron and made enough of a hook in the piece so that it wouldn't go past the latch. And thus create a problem. After the install, never used the stock cable again. Which I broke three (count'em, 3) replacement cables in one day. (Don't ask why I had three replacement cables on hand. OCD.)
