I am still running Snow Leopard on my iMac. I was considering going to OS 10.8.2 from 10.6.8, but I see so many reviews about crashes and freezes, that I do not want to jump in and mess this thing up. Any one have any experiences they can relate about upgrading?

Hi Dave. There have been many reports of upgrade and compatibility problems on the UConn mac lists. Here's a table of compatibility issues for Lion and Mountain Lion:

I'm running Lion on my 2011 iMac. Have had zero issues with hundreds of apps. I also have Win 7 installed under bootcamp and run it simultaneously using Parallels.

I'm running the latest Mac OS on my home machine and my work MacBook without issues. You'll want to check your software as there were some things that needed updates for this OS version.

I drive my machines pretty hard, doing audio recording at home and programming/database stuff at work and haven't had any issues.

I feel it my obligation to begin an intervention, fellas!!!

Huge fan of Linux as a server platform (I manage a couple of them at work, so much better than either Mac or PC as a server platform. That said, I really like the Mac as a desktop OS. Nice and functional, and Unix is always right there if you need it (and I do use it).
