Hi Mark,
I use a higher gas flow for aluminum than steel. About 17 for steel and 20-22 for ali. Blobing sounds like your wire speed is too slow. I find I need to adjust wire speed faster if I'm welding vertically, and a slight bit faster than that if I'm welding from underneath.
