Luggage rack: Which version is "correct" for a 60

Bugeye? Yes, I understand that a number of people think no version is correct, but I'm looking for advice here. Appreciate any info you can provide. thanks

Unless you already have holes, .......Unless you are going to take trips where you NEED the added space..... ...

I took the rack OFF my SWA '66 because they are a total pain to wash and wax UNDER. You'll get more wind noise and poorer fuel economy...

Re: Luggage rack: Which version is "correct" for a 60

There was a discussion on this topic not long ago. I don't know the answer, I've never had a luggage rack on any of my cars, but I do remember reading that there is a particular luggage rack that comes with braces that mitigates the tendency for the rear deck of the bugeye to buckle slightly under the weight of the rack and luggage load.

Good luck!

Hi Dave,

If your looking for a "Bugeye" Luggage Rack; Check out the pics from Moss Mtrs (P/N 244-720 / $320.00) or VB (P/N 15-809 / $300.00 but No Pics).

You`ll see the "Vertical" plates that contour with the rear deck of a Bugeye. That prevents any warpage, flex, indentations etc. Its similar to a "MGA" rack.

What I`m looking for is: Mounting Dim`s. for the rack on the rear deck of my `59 Bugeye. Who out there would have that or Where can I find the info?

Thanx in Advance,

Russ

Thanks, guys. As always you are a big help. After reading the responses involving drilling, effect of weight with a luggage rack and things I might pile on it, I think I will forego the luggage rack.
