It looks to me like he USED UP all of the luck in THAT shift knob.
If, like a cat, shift knobs have 9 lives, 8 of them are ALREADY GONE !

There isn't enough money to pay me to TAKE it !

I would say its probably a cursed shift knob. Like all cursed things it can cause destruction, and havoc, and never itself be even scratched.

About 18 or so years ago, my great uncle was in his car going up the hill towards his house, when a city dump truck lost its brakes coming the opposite direction. The truck literally flattened the entire car, with the exception of a little area around the driver's seat.

He was in his mid 70s at the time. He managed to wiggle out the window, shoved his arm into the crumpled trunk opening enough to grab the camera he had in there, and calmly took pictures! I actually would have never believed the story as he told it, but the pictures were amazing!!!

He lived another 10 years or so after the accident, so it was fantastic he not only didn't die, but also didn't get really hurt at all.

I just love being on the road with 18 wheelers. Usually doing at least 15 over their speed limit and angry because you won't go faster still.

That was one lucky guy.
