After reading about Jeff's new rotors, and thinking OH Boy another new thing to buy, I got curious. I have the above described cap and dizzy body on the GT6. anything special about this?

That's a good question . . .

Here's a link to Paul Tegler's website with a very good compilation of Lucas and Delco-Remy distributor specs:
https://www.teglerizer.com/mgstuff/advance_curves.htm

Also note here at the bottom of the page that the "Lucas Tuning Manual" may be downloaded in .pdf format. This is a very useful resource.

However, Tegler does not address if the caps are interchangable. Darned if I know. I'd tend to use the correct cap myself, they're not expensive.

Anyone else??? Andrew . . .?

If you mean interchangeable between Lucas and Delco distributors, then no, they aren't.

"19 again": are you saying you have a Lucas distributor on your GT6? Nothing wrong with that, but I'll wager it's from a TR6 (or possibly a Vitesse, although that's rather unlikely for a US car). The GT6, as implicated on Paul Tegler's page, always used the Delco distributor.

No Andrew, I have a Lucas Distributor cap on a Delco-Remy distributor body. The body is marked Delco-Remy D204 7953547.

OK. I'm sure that Lucas either produced or at least repackaged caps to fit the Delco distributors. That's not uncommon; I used to buy (repackaged by? manufactured by?) Bosch caps, rotors, condensors and points sets for my Delco-equipped GT6+ back in the mid-1970s, as they then tended to be about the best quality replacement parts I could find. That was especially true of the points sets, which were assembled well and were "ventilated" to keep them from burning up so quickly.

19 again, I suggest to call Nigel at "SpitBits". He'll probably have the correct cap on-hand. You can have it at your door in no time flat.

Let us know, good luck!

Not certain, but I believe Lucas did make caps to fit the Delco distributors. They did make a lot of service parts to fit other company's products. However, as Andy says, I don't believe the caps or rotors will interchange between Lucas and Delco.

But check with Jeff to be sure, he may have a rotor available that will fit.
