Went to redo the brakes on our old 1996 Ford Contour gettting it ready for my son who's driving now and look what I found hiding in the rear brake drums. :smile:

I know the Contour was based on the Ford Europe Mondeo but I figured here in the US they would be using their normal suppliers.

Interesting, but not too surprising. I don't recall who made the calipers on my 1995 Mercury Mystique; same car, but this one has discs on all four corners. I'd like to think they were not Girling, as they were pretty lousy calipers (but then, so were the Girling calipers on the mid-1970s Saab 99s)!

I'm pretty sure the calipers are not Girling but a pretty common Ford design.
