I've been using Red line MT-90 for over 4 years but haven't noticed any leaks (well, not for the gear box)and I love the quiet, smooth shifting. I'm a believer!

I'm with HealeyJag. A Good old fashioned 20/50W or 30W, me, I use 20/50W

Am I remembering correctly that it needs to be non-detergernt in the trans? Can you even get 20/50 non detergent? What do you gain with a multi grade oil in a gear box? I switched because I was getting noise in the gear box. It smoothed out the shifting as a bonus. I ended up having the box rebuilt (by the guru,Bill Boulton) and stayed with the Red-line. Now it is truly sweet shifting.

My understanding was non detergent 30w..also not sure of the value of a multigrade....my shifting is smooth and tranny noise is insignificant on my 100 Le Mans. (might be due to my super insulation of the cover!!!!)
I do have some leaks so I am hesitant on trying something else...

MT90 is a API-GL4 gear oil that is rated as SAE 75W90. Because gear oils are rated at DIFFERENT temperatures than motor oils, MT90 has about the same viscosity as SAE 10W40 motor oil. It is actually much thinner than SAE30 at low temperatures.

My finding is that the car is a lot quieter. That was evident immediately.
With the previous oil, as the car sped up, somewhere over 50-60 the transmission got louder and louder. To the point where it was harder to hear the engine or the person sitting next to you.
With MT-90, I can actually hear the wonderful sound of a Healey motor at any speed.
Shifts smoother in all gears.
That does include the over drive.
As far as OD shifting in colder weather, I can't comment. I live in California and it doesn't get that cold here. I does shift better with Red Line MT90, fwiw.
I'd suggest you try it. You can always go back.
I haven't heard of anyone who has gone back though.
