LSD Options

Now I know some of you were alive and of age in the 60s, so let me start by pointing out that I mean Limited Slip Differential.

I have been wondering if there are LSD options out there other than the $2k Quaife unit being offered by the typical vendors? I would like to upgrade my 4A to a LSD, but not because I want better cornering ability or better traction in the snow. I simply would like to be able to back out of my driveway (it is very steep) without spinning a wheel. Currently the neighbors must think I own a race car because every time I back it out of the garage they are able to witness a fantastic show of revving engine, slipping clutch, and spinning tires. I really would like to just back up quietly.....

OOOOHHHH,
I've heard some bad things about the phantom grip. heard it was very hard on your rear end. Cheap (relatively speaking) but not reliable, compared to a Quaife or plate type LSD. I won't use one. Quaife is guaranteed for life. Plate type, best for racing and handling.

How about backing INTO your driveway which would then allow you to motor out under control ?

Good question. My garage is in the basement of my house, hence the steep driveway. Starting the car and letting it warm up puts far to much exhaust in the garage (and ultimately the house) when I park the car with the tail end in.

boeing aircraft.... they used to have huge tool sales from what i understand when they are too worn out for aircraft use or from an old production run of an airplane.
