Lower wishbone recondition?

I am rebuilding the front suspension for my bugeye. When I put new fulcrum pins into my wishbones and insert the cotter, there is still some movement between the fulcrum pin and the threads in the wishbone.

I seem to remember that the threads in the wishbone are replaceable. Can anyone recommend where to send them?

apple hydraulics. About $250 for both sides is what last set cost me. About 7-10 days. Lazar IIRCis their guy for this. You'll need Peter C to ream kingpin bushings and he will also set proper shim clearance for trunnions cap if you send spindles along as well.

Thanks Jim. I had the kingpin bushing reamed locally; they fit perfectly. With the new kingpins, though, I don't see how you set the proper shim clearance. No matter how many shims I put in or take out, I can tighten the top nut enough to make the thing not turn.

If I recall Peter's instructions, you are putting too much torque on the top nut. I'm sure he will comment.

I was please with the work Apple did with my wishbones. So far I've had two sets done. This set was off of a '71 Midget that is going on Bugsy and the previous set was off of a RB Spridget that went on my '68 Sprite. Apple does not have the best reputation for some of their work but for replacing the metal bushings on the wishbone they were great.

The trunnion doesn't turn. The stub axle assembly does.
