TR4/4A Lower crash pad

I'm trial fitting a set of TRF lower crash pads (my car had none) and the rh side has a handle built in. It looks pretty flimsy and it must have had some type of metal support originally with a finisher? I've searched all the usual suspects in the US and UK, but I don't see anything in their drawings so I could be wrong. If it does is there a source for these new or should I look for used.

Rut,
there is a metal place that fits inside where you grab. Haven't looked at one in a while but I think I remember there's one screw holding it in place. Will look at my spares today.

From the look of the lower rh crash pad I would say the there's got to be a metal piece that goes between 3 & 4 and attaches to the metal dash frame. I think 4 is a plastic finisher, but I'm guessing on that.

On mine that piece is stout metal and secured with 3 screws. No additional finisher, no plastic.

I don't believe the metal piece is in any way attached to the metal dash but it is tightly against it when it and the crash pad are fitted to the dash.

Thanks again! Those pictures tell the tale...looks like vinyl covered steel held on by 3 screws.

The TRF repro pads may not have anything but foam to screw into...be aware so that you do not end up ruining the grip section with 3 holes in the vinyl, or having to glue the metal support onto the vinyl.
Do not assume that the factory made metal support will fit onto the repro item.

FWIW - mine does not have vinyl covering that piece, it's just bare metal. The interior (and exterior) of the car was original when I got it - I replaced the crash pads.

Quite possibly either is correct & I have to admit it looks better covered in vinyl.

My replacement crash pads came from TRF (years ago) though I think all US vendors may use the same source. I do not recall what the screws went into but I also do not recall any problem attaching it.
