TR2/3/3A LOVELY BEIGE TR3 at Duryea Day

You never know what will show up at Duryea Day - Boyertown, PA - held every year on the Saturday preceding Labor Day.This TR3 was restored per factory build record and wears a beige exterior - the first I have ever seen!
The owner bought the car in 1968 for $75. It had been illegally parked and then towed by the city.

The '57 TR3 I restored some years back was originally beige, with blue interior and white top, according to the Heritage Trust certificate. Strange color combination - I like the red interior on that one!
 
A friend of mine had a beige '56 years ago; unfortunately, it was much too far gone to restore (had no engine or gearbox and needed a new chassis and about 80% of a new body tub, etc.). Interesting colors, as the interior was originally "vermillion" IIRC, and weather equipment was originally "fawn" -- probably pretty much the same as the subject car here. This looks great to me, as I've always loved the rare period colors! :thumbsup:
 
I too like the look and agree that the rarer colors/combinations draw me in. Very pretty.
 
I had ( for a short while) a TR2 with the same color scheme, little on the rough side. I was persuaded to sell and hopefully its on it way to being restored. I like the combination.

Great job on the car, but... if I was concerned about originality, and my heritage certificate said the car was beige from the factory, somehow I would have to find a way to change that...and no, not to geranium either. There are some colors that I feel just don't belong on a sports car. :sick: :laugh:
 
I used to think so too, until I saw this car in person. Pictures don't do it justice, it's drop-dead gorgeous.

i think that the beige looks great. It shows classy to me. I get tired of seeing RED sports cars.
 
Howdy Folks,

When I was restoring (Nut & Bolt) my `57TR3; I had her painted a shade darker than Olde English White but also a shade lighter than the Beige with the Oxblood Int. What an Outstanding looking car!!

The current owner (Lives around the corner from me); Will continue the restoration process within a yr. "Hi Charles".

I`ll be 2nd person to drive her.

This one is "VERY PURRITY"!!
