Great story - reminds me of the first Radio Shack I managed, in the old St. Charles Hotel in New Orleans back in the early 70's. We took in stereo items for repair, and one was an Akai reel-to-reel tape deck, brought in by a couple of guys. While they were in the store, one was at the counter with me, and the other was acting pretty suspiciously. While talking to the guy in front of me, I kept my eyes on his buddy. He wasn't able to steal anything, and as they were leaving, I happened to walk around to the front of the store, just in time to see one of them scoop up the "Radio Shack" welcome mat at the doorway and run off. They didn't see me notice them. Couple of weeks later, they came in to pick up the deck. When they asked what the charge was, I told them the amount, plus the welcome mat they stole. They denied having done so, and I told them they weren't getting the deck back without returning the mat. Never saw them again; I paid the repair bill ($30 or so) and took it home. Still have it!
