Louvers

Paul, that's what I'm thinking, sort of. Instead of the insert have the fender punched!
What do you think?

I'm looking for that TR4 picture. I was a triangular vent that looked just great on the car. It mounted with the back vertically matched to the door line and the top matched to the fender line, leaving the front running rearward from top to bottom. It had a wide portion that was horizontal and there was a mesh screen in behind the upper and lower openings.

I have the photo.
It was a white Factory car.

Sorry Don, the eyes aren't what they used to be.

Or maybe it's the memory......or both.....

Punching slits in the fender by itself won't get you there. The sidewall in the engine bay is not part of the fender. Those "inserts" are a couple of inches thick to make it through the fender into the engine bay.

Alan Myers used to post here a while back- he was working louvers into his TR4 fenders, not sure I saw a finished picture, but the mockup looked good.

Don,

That's not quite the one. The one that I saw as definitely silver and the opening was back further, which really makes them useless, unless you want to wash and dry your inner fenders, depending on whether it's raining or sunny, but they did look good.

Thanks Randy, that's obviously it. I guess that the opening isn't as far back as I thought that it was. Another senior moment....

Here's a shot from a show from last year; wish I had a tighter shot of the fender openings. This car's owner also has a completely original, beautiful '4, in red, as well. Some guys have all the luck!
