This months evo raves about the addition of a true aftermarket component..at what seems like a high cost..

The review of race capability between it being a Lotus..Elise and having sequential shifters makes formula one driving comparisions true to life..

I doubt..I'd spend 8 grand on it..unless I blew my existing tranny...

Its probably 12 thousand US dollars to 8000 british pounds..ouch..the whole car costs how much...

These sequential shifter deal is not that good..

I have heard that for a manufacturer to produce a sequential shifter from an existing stick shift..the added production costs is 200 dollars..

An extra 2 grand..I could see..but in this case with a whole new tranny...12grand..

I wouldn't even consider it..

The lotus truly is a masterpiece as it comes from teh factory..

anybody interested in turbo technices TT 190 Elise costs is 6756 british pounds..

190 horses.....

" the greatthing about tweaking Elises is that they are so light..the gains to be had are enormous..

Its actually the new Geotec Supercharger which cunningly uses the impeller side of a conventional turbo, but powered by a compact belt driven epicyclic drive off the crankshaft rather than using the exhaust gases as in a regular turbo..

This means underbonnet temperatures remain close to standard and because the boost is engine speed related, power delivery suites the delicate balance of the elise by giving instant easily metered hp to the rear wheels....

FYI - I saw one at our last car show in October... it resides in southern FL I believe, although not street "legal", they're using it in racing events apparently.

This excellent little number came to a local TVR event about six weeks ago. Came in under it's own power sporting "NJ Historic" plates (more like "Hysterical"). About a minute after I took this pic, the owner dicreetly removed the tags (which I've obligingly blocked out in this photo). Technically, in many states, you could take one of these all apart, document the individual components, reassemble it and register it as a "kit car" (that's how many of the Cobra and S7s are registered). There's also a US certified Elise with the Honda VTEC motor (priced at about a zillion $)

for some reason, the Elise link above won't download if you click on it......but if you copy/paste it into the address area, it works fine.....computers! Bah, humbug!

I heard they are bringing them in with a 195hp Acura Integra Vtech four cylinder at a cost of around 55 grand.

A little high for what you end up with but certainly a cool car for those with the burning desire to own one of these cars that has at one point brought Lotus back to profitability..

I don't know exactly what has happened to Lotus since. There is talk that the GM and updated Elise caused a production stoppage to convert the plant ..and with that..delay..red ink was pouring ..to the tune of 43 million british pounds..

the new Boss at lotus is Terry Playle..he is the new Chief executive. He's one of the guys who put a stop on the very cool M250 ...booooo! but promises an even better ride that will be brought into the US..and allow a total world wide production of 10,000 units.

He is quoted as saying the the M250 was not advanced enough to have the production life that a small company like Lotus needed..The new model is based on the M250 but more evolved..
