In the golf course parking lot there was an early Lotus Elan, yellow and red. It looked mint. Did not get to talk to the owner. I always wanted to drive a Lotus but not to own one due to their fragile and unreliable reputation as revealed online. And now the newer ones cost an arm and a leg. My kind of car - small and fast.

Yesterday on my way to British Car Day, just got on the highway and had an Elan smoke past me - 75 MPH at least - I was never so happy to be passed by anything - an Elan in its mostly natural habitat being driven by someoone who was happy to give it some welly!

I had one years ago,a Series 1-1/2 (#3892).
I had it for 14 years, but never got it going/restored.
I got to drive one in Vancouver,BC.INCREDIBLE
driving car!

I had an Elan Coupe of roughly the same vintage - drove it often and loved it. One of the few LBC's that can keep up with modern traffic. Once I got the Webers squared away it was very drivable. Never failed me. I even took it out in the snow occasionally. It's one of 2 or 3 cars I regret selling.
