Lots to do, 74 B , need help [advice]

That cover is just a piece of black vinyl...sometimes there's a piece of hardboard under it.....its glued on.

Thanks Tony,
Guess I can just cut a new piece to fit and reinstall.

Well I did get Passenger Vent window out, but only after removeing the window and regulator. I guess I'll have this thing down to the shell before long.
Thanks,
Tom

Yep, vent window comes out easiest with everything else out of door - & its easier to drill out those rivets in the window scraper if the door's stripped...plus, you've got a nut in the trim to remove tht's behind the window.

Well, pretty much got everything stripped out. Found that one of the hardest things to remove was the door locks. They were tough. Will next be removing the hardware that the side molding attaches to, molding has been removed. Lots of rivets to be drilled out. Some of the snapps that the soft top snaps to on the body are going to have to be ground off I guess. The nuts have rusted so that they will not unscrew and are too hard to get to in order to break the rusted stud.

All in all things are going pretty well. Got a lot of prep work to do to body before painting. That will probably be a ways off though. "Wife" has informed me that the first project for my new airless sprayer will be painting a house the she is refinishing. Will be spraying it maybe next week.

Thanks for all information and advice,
Tom

Oh nice, you help wife with her restoration project on house and she helps you on yours, car. Cool. Always good when a family plays together.

Well, kind of like that. I help her and she allows me to play with my new toy.

How is your project coming? Have you got it back from north AL yet?

Wish you would ride over and set me straight on some the mess I have made.
Tom

Not even due back till Sept. But then thats only 6 weeks or so. Check the link for pics from last week.

Jack,
Looks like it is coming along pretty good. More of a task than I would care to undertake.
Tom

Heh, labor of love, have not had so much fun in years.

Body had so little rust that a bit bondo would fix it but he is going to use metal and weld of course. Only a ding or two or three except for the drivers side A post that will be reskined.

Going to be bright and shiney. My only real worry is getting the eng and tranmission in without messing up the paint. Slow and steady I supose.

... and lots and lots of old blankets. Another tip: wear a pair of Tyvek painters overalls and your sweatpants when installing the engine/gearbox.

"painters overalls and your sweatpants"

If this is not to protect paint from me leaning on it, what's it for? Maybe to keep me warm this winter when it happens. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
