Lost My Sound!

Not sure what's up but I have no sound. All drivers are up to date, the internal sound works, like the pings and bings! but no internet sounds. W-8.1, IE 11 browser, no malware, hard drive not fraged. Crazy, as it was working three days ago. No video, (utube) sounds. Ran a virus program, no viruses! Anyone have a clue? PJ

Is your "mute" on?

No Elliot, mute is off. I even just downloaded 11 optional updates to cover that area and still no sound. I have an update number from the Internet, KB2962407, which I was told needs to be in the computer for 8.1 for sound and went through all my updates and it was not among them. How can I type in this update number in to download and install it? Just another avenue to cover. PJ

I don't know what operating system you're using, but if you're using Windows, click on the speaker icon on the bottom bar and then click on "mixer". There are separate volume controls for "system" sounds vs other sounds. Make sure they're both up (and not muted).

The problem is IE-11! Went to another browser and everything is working perfectly! PJ

OK, problem fixed! Microsoft has a fix for this problem, evidently it's not uncommon. The fix worked! Thank guys for your input, much appreciated. :encouragement: PJ

With all the problem you are always having with IE
Why do you stick with it?

IF you want lots of issues, continuing, keep using IE of any iteration newer than 8.
I don't care..don't believe me. Even MS is dropping it in OS10.

Never buy another MS product if you aren't well versed in IT and general computer work.

I know my way around this stuff, I HATE 8, consider 8.1 to be more push on the sharp stick in the eye 8 was.
I think IE is still on my laptop, but I found the program file and re-wrote the title so it won't open.
FireFox....as I won't use anything I know is google, like peeling chrome.

If you had FireFox, your sound most likely would have been just fine.
