Lighting again. An oak got hit last year and blew bark off, it grew leaves this spring then all of a sudden died. Just had a big pine in the front get hit about 50yds away from the front door. Kitty was on the porch and is now freaked out, he (yes, it's a he) had a front row seat and doesn't appear to have enjoyed the show.

Outside cat and really didn't look that close.
 
These trees have been functioning as protection devices for the buildings near by. Evenso, being outside during a lightning storm is a risky business'
