Loose wire

I have a red and white wire(console light wire) in my '79 Spitfire that goes somewhere. It's just hanging loosely next to the radio pointing towards the passenger side door. It is hot when the lights are turned on. The gas gauge, temp. gauge, heater controls, tach., speedometer, and hazard light all works. I cannot figure out where this wire goes. Any ideas?

That wire is for guage lights ,I am not sure if the interior light is also that color. If it is that is the probably what it goes to,but Spits are foreign to me.
don
Any chance that wire is for your rheostat problem?

Yeah, the wire is related to the rheostat. I let a local radio guy install a cd player in the car. When I got home I noticed the rheostat burnt up. When I took everything out I noticed he had grounded the radio to the wire in question. After testing it I saw that it was a hot wire and that something was wrong. I ended up running a completely independent ground for the radio but now I'm stuck with this hot light wire and not knowing where it goes. Just goes to show you, should've done it myself.
