Looking to buy Toyota Avensis T25, any thoughts and advice?

Hello all,

It's my first post here, so welcome everyone!
I know Toyota isn't British car, but Avensis was manufacturer and build here, so I thought I could ask about it. I'm not an expert, so will free to point out any misconceptions I raise here.

I'm looking to buy Avensis T25 after lifting (just because of oil consumption issue in prior models), so 2006-2008, 1.8 Petrol, Manual, preferably hatchback. My budget is <ÂŁ2000.

I want to hear your opinions and any advice you have. There're models that I'm interesting in, but it seems every single one have something with it. Either rust, corrosion, suspension soon to be replaced, brake pipes corroded (could be very costly), and some other things. What in your opinion should I focus on, and what other things should I accept.

My objective is to take care of the car, and have it as long as possible. My mileage would be max 7/8k miles (including two 1200 miles trips).

Feel free to share anything,
Thanks, Bruno

Hey Bruno, in truth there are probably better places to ask this question. While we have a good amount of British members on the forum, the reality is that the overwhelming majority live in North America and the Avensis was never sold in North America. good luck. And you typically can't go wrong with a Toyota.
