Looking though old photos

I spent some time last night digging though my boxes of old photos on the hunt for pictures of all the vehicles I've owned. Had a great time looking at all the old shots -- really reminds me that I need to put together a better organizational system than a couple small boxes stuffed with photos. smile

Was able to find some shots of all the old vehicles. Fun stuff, and allowed me to finally update my website with the full history. 16 vehicles in the last 16 years, not too bad.

In writing up the page I also realized that I've now owned the Tunebug longer than any other vehicle. Time flies...

In the pile were a few shots of my old Toyota FJ40. The first car I ever bought with my own money (previous car was generously handed down to me from my parents). I'm considering getting another one of these, just in a bit better shape.

Saw one last year in Northern Cal. Concours restoration. Bee-you-tee-ful. Asking $16,000.

Nice pics - love the bikes! (Beemer and Honda especially)

Finding these old photos was a fun project; brought back quite a few memories. I highly recommend the exercise -- though it will take many of you a lot longer than it took me.

'bout a 170 years ago I discovered I don't photograph. So I never really got in to collecting

pictures.

Wish I had more photos of that car . . .

That's the trouble with digital. I just dumped allot of pics on my card to make more room. Most were resale units but were cool. They still were "my" cars.

There's a llot to be said for a real paper picture.

I'm suprised you had so much trouble with the Aerostar. Those are great vans, The 3.0 will go 300K.

Mark, how close are you to VIR?

I didn't know you had a TR4.
Only had it about 6 months. Needed *way* more bodywork than I was really ready for. Truly my mistake in buying that particular car. A neat car though, and wouldn't mind having another some day.

Great pictures, Nial. You've had quite the fleet of interesting stuff. I was really born too late. The cars I grew up with were all from the late 70s and 80s. Boring things.

I really prefer digital, and intend to scan in most of my archives. I really like iPhoto for organizing and even browsing pictures. I figure that once everything is scanned in I can print up a couple photo books for posterity.

Mine had the larger 4.0 liter and only about 93k miles on it when I got it. I think it had been seriously abused in its former life. When everything worked it was a really useful van -- I just got tired of replacing major components.

You say above your girl friend ...
Past or present or both

Lost the car and the girl in 1973. I miss the car most, tho' . . . :cryin:

It's near Danville, about 135 miles from here. Two 1/2 hours or so. I've been going there for a loooong time, now mostly to see the vintage stuff. Drove there a few times, back in the glory days . . .

One of my future goals is to visit VIR and run one of the vintage events there.

But it's a looooong pull for me. Probably about 1100 miles, round trip.

You need to move out west, son!

Pocono Racetrack is about 75 minutes from me and I complain when I have to tow there. :jester:

Here in NJ, if it's more than 20 minutes drive, it's "far away".

My daily commute is farther than that! If you really want a thrill - drive across Texas in the summertime, in a Spitfire with no air conditioning!

Or you could just try self flagellation instead. :wall:
