Looking for DS Outer Rocker - Front 4"

Anyone got a partial DS Outer Rocker. I need the front 4" to fix a spot right behind DS wheel that rusted immediately and quickly in spite of dry garage storage for almost all of the last 10 years. Leading edge is all perforated right at the right angle compound curve. I can fabricate but looks like a lot of effort to duplicate the curve + putting a right angle in it to match the wheel well curve. Rest of Rocker just fine.

Also anyone got a picture of the End Cap Installed on front of rocker. This is a closing panel that DPO I believe never installed MOSS part 452-150. Goes between inner sill and rocker. Hard to see with road grime and dirt in there.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Looking for DS Outer Rocker - Front 4"

I purchased a set of sills off of e-bay that were inferior to what moss sells, so I ordered a set from moss. the ones I have do not roll over the edge under where fender meets sill. My computer crashed from virus so I cann't post photo of mine. if you can post photo of area you neeed patch I may be able to tell you if what I have will work.I'm leaving today at 3 pm but will not be back till tuesday

Got to get the camera out. I'll post a pic of what I need.

Re: Looking for DS Outer Rocker - Front 4"

Found a set locally in Cincinnati I can have for a song and someone else set me pics on how to hammer one out over a plywood form. Locally is easier, cut to fit, Frank C. sent info on how easy this repair. Either way, next weekend I take on the DS Rocker. Thanks all.

Re: Looking for DS Outer Rocker - Front 4"

I am in the process of replacing my passenger side complete outer sill now. I have broken the top loose, the only issues I have had so far is getting the sill off footwell upright. I ended up ripping some holes in the side foot well. realized that if I used a chisel from the inside pushing up once welds were drilled that they didn't rip footwell wall.

any pointers on removining the bottom welds? do you do it from the backside or from the front?

I haven't been there before. Others will chime in here please.

Re: Looking for DS Outer Rocker - Front 4"

great photos Mark, I think you are doing a fantastic job, The part I am not sure of is the floor/inner sill to "outside sill". I have removed the top welds from outer sill, All I have left to remove is the bottom of orginal outer sill

Not real sure where at the bottom I need to split to find factory spot welds. I would think they will needed to be drilled out from the front under the lip of outer sill.

I have taken by metal cutter and cut the old sill face off so I can work either side Of where the parts come together. Makes sense to me they would had oringally been welded from under the floor boards to outer sill, or from the front under outer sill lip

Re: Looking for DS Outer Rocker - Front 4"

Thanks for the kind words.
The inner and outer rocker panels are in fact spot welded together along the bottom. This is a seperate weld joint than the spot welds that hold the floor to the inner rocker panel. These welds aren't hard to get at, it's the welds that hold the "A" post to the outer rocker, The welds that hold the outer rocker to the inner rocker behind the "A" post/lower hinge, and the welds behind the quarter panel where the outer rocker is spot welded to the inner quarter panel (I have a picture I'll post)that are difficult. At some point in my car's past, someone cut the old outer rocker away, leaving the original factory welds, and pop riveted and brazed a new outer rocker to the original flange. Not a great way to repair a structural member. I could go on for hours with stories like this but I'm sure you've heard them before! Let me know if there's anything I can further help with.
Regards
Mark
