Hi all, we are sending a car to Chapel Hill and the customer wants a good resource for future service needs. Can anyone recommend a good shop or two in that region? thanks!

Flying Circus, 2308 Pettigrew St., Durham, NC 919-596-4250 I took my bugeye to them for service/repair when I lived in Carrboro.
Family owned, good people.

If you ever send a car to San Diego the best place is Heritage British Motors owned by Randy Zoller in El Cajon. He is the best. He just put a new clutch in my Bugeye and did an excellent job.

Flying Circus in Durham,
Import Car Center in Raleigh,
Sports & Classics in Raleigh,
Apex Vintage (Off U.S. 70 between Raleigh & Durham)

EDIT: Also suggest to them that they join the NCMGCC and attend their meetings and tech sessions. They will get to know a good support group in the community and the tech sessions are typically held at Flying Circus which would introduce them to the closest service garage.

Funny story about Carl. While growing up in the 1960s his family lived about a half mile from us when North Hills Plaza in Raleigh had just been completed. My father used to get furious about the noise from cars "drag racing" over in the parking lot. He used to call the cops almost every weekend but they never caught anyone. Carl told me recently that it was almost certainly him and his friends who got my dad so upset.

Import Car Center in Raleigh is also a good choice. It is owned by Bill Hargrove who has been working on British cars since before I learned to drive. That being said, Toby who owns Flying Circus has been doing this a long time also and he is a supporter of the local MG club. Apex Vintage is what used to be Krause & England. They work on virtually any imported and/or exotic car. They are also a race prep shop so their work is high quality. They are all valuable assets.

My fault. Sorry. It's "Sports & Compacts" in Raleigh.

As you will see on the web page they currently focus on Miatas and other Japanese cars. I would call to make sure that they can/will work on your British car. As long as Carl owns the business and is actively involved I imagine they will.

He does own it and definitely works on British cars. In fact, my BE is going up to him during his "slow time" in the winter for some work.

Thanks Charlie. That's good to know. I haven't seen Carl in almost two years. I hope the Bugeye doesn't need any major work this winter.

Just some tweaks. My wife and I drove it to Beaufort yesterday for lunch on the town dock there. A woman and her 10 year old daughter were admiring the BE and I asked if she would like to take a picture of her daughter behind the wheel. The little girl was tickled pink and took away a memory that will, hopefully, last her a long time.

Yeah, Carl races/raced 1275 Midgets.
Here's his racer, from the annual car show put on by the NCMGCC, as mentioned by Doug.

Adrian! Wow! It has been a very long time! It's good to see you post again and I hope all is well with you and the Midget.

Thanks, Doug. Yes, time flies. Me and the MG Midget are both doing fine - slight brake issue but I'm working on it - always something to keep us busy, right?
Hope you and family and cars are also happy and healthy - see you at the car show next year!
Best regards!
