Thanks, I finally got it down by tightening the center brace of the Windshield frame. I used metric bolts though. Not sure if they are the same as the ones listed previously (1/4-28), but the metrics worked fine. Thanks everyone for your help, and I will think about why MG designed the windshield like this for yrs to come. This was almost as bad as replacing the sills or getting a root canal. Actually it was worse...

I install the windshield frame back on the car using two 1 inch wide ratchet straps. After setting the frame into the fender slots with a piece of plastic film draped over the painted area to keep from scratching the paint while setting the lower seal, I hook a strap on the rear engine bay lip by the rear corner of the hood on both sides, placing a softener between the strap hook and any painted surface. I drape the strap over the pillar top and connect the ratchet to the lower door hinge. Pulling with the ratchet equally on each side to maintain a constant pressure. Using the nylon rope method, I pull the lower seal in place as slight pressure from the straps hold it in place. From that point on I can apply more (equal) pressure on the pillar tops and walk the tops fore and aft to keep the right angle while settling them down for the bolts. Once in place I slide the plastic film out. By doing it this way, I do not need another person to help. Also this is using a new very stiff bottom seal and new pillar grommets. <span style="font-weight: bold">It works for me! </span>
