a spot welded reinforcement for a Philips head sheet metal screw, used under the bonnet for the air ducts and splash guards.
Planing on making a few replacement panels so will need 25-50-100???
 
I doubt, other than on used panels, that you'll find replacement for those. I'd guess you'll need to make them. Shouldn't be difficult, a section of heavier gauge sheet metal, drill out the holes an inch or so apart and cut the sections free with a cutoff wheel.
 
Or get the body spring fasteners and cut off the clip side and weld the screw side to panel, timely, but doable.
 
I have various weld on nuts, not for a screw??? looking at them could be made, but need to destroy an old one, drilling / punching the blanks it's the slice (I don't know what else to call it) that the screw digs into now that has me (right now) Some where in the world is a big box full sitting and rusting! Thanks for the help! tt
 
I was talking about the spring screw fastener clips used in the newer cars that have a screw point hole on one side and wraps around so you push over the fender hole and screw panel on. I cannot think of what they are called , but if you cut the spring side off you will have exactly what is welded to your existing fender. My hardware store has them by the box.
 
I believe that is what is called a "tinnerman nut" spring steel not likely to spot weld very well? a google search brings up all kinds of clips, captive nuts, I did look at McMaster Carr, and some XKE catalogs did not find anything. Got a couple of days worth of clean up and roof repair, today's storm was severe and did some damage. Nothing like the people in OKlahoma!
