Looking for a little help

I am in the process of restoring a 1980 spitfire 1500. I have removed the transverse leaf spring to return it back to the way it should be and was going to replace the rear shocks. That is the point where I need a little help. Can someone tell me if the pin that attaches the lower end of the rear shock to the vertical link is a removable bolt or an integral part of the vertical link? The threads are severely stripped and something needs to be replaced. I have tapped on the threaded end of the pin with a punch and nothing appears to be moving. Thanks for any advise !!

Sadly, it's part of the link, so you'll need to round up another one of those vertical links for that side. Not to make it sound even worse, but they're often difficult at the very best to remove, as the through-bolt that holds it and goes through the hub tends to seize on the steel sleeve of the trunnion bushing!

Thanks for the info Andy. I went ahead and was able to remove the link and you were right. It was pretty stubborn. I searched on the net and it looks like Spitbits has a refurbed link for $45.00 guess I'll go ahead and order that as I do not think I will be able to salvage the old one. Thanks again for the response.

No, however, if you know a Cufley in the Seattle area there is a 99.9999% chance that we are related.

no, it's just that I posted that a new Spit showed up on my street and was wondering if it was you. What part of Big Hair Lynnwood do you live?
